Both cottages are a short drive or bike ride to all of Wellfleet's attractions, including the Cape's last classic Drive-In Movie theater, live performances at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater (W.H.A.T.), magnificent ocean beaches, sheltered bay beaches, the Audubon Sanctuary, the 26-mile Rail Trail for biking, fresh-water kettle ponds, live bands nightly at the Beachcomber, the famous French pastries of P.B. Boulangerie and Bistro, and all the galleries and restaurants of downtown Wellfleet. If you ever want to leave Wellfleet, you're only a short 20-minute drive from Provincetown where you'll find art galleries, fishing, whale watching (go see the whales!), restaurants, and night life.
Step back in time and relax as you experience the outer Cape of bygone days. Our cozy, 1940s era Cape cottage is situated on a quiet lane next to the Pilgrim Spring conservation area with lovely wooded walks to the marsh and less than a mile from Fox Island and Indian Neck Beach on the bay side with views to Great Island great spots for sundowners.
The Cozy Cottage has a selection of classic board games, a collection of books featuring local cape authors and good beach reads, as well as an eclectic collection of CDs. For those who don't want to fully unplug, we have WiFi Internet and a Bose stereo. Our cottage sleeps 4 people, has a good sized well-equipped kitchen, a screened-in sleeping porch, and a working fireplace for cool evenings in late summer or early fall. The yard includes a wonderful outdoor shower, a deck, charcoal grill, peeks to the marsh, lovely perennial plantings, and a hammock under the shady locust trees. Looking for something slighly larger? Our contemporary Saltbox features three bedrooms and two full bathrooms comfortably sleeping six people. Located on a quiet dirt lane convenient to Mayo Beach, Wellfleet harbor, tennis courts, a playground, harbor view restaurants, and Great Island, and only a half a mile from Wellfleet center!
Family and friends have plenty of space to gather in the gracious open-plan ground floor. The kitchen is open to the dining area which flows into the living room which has a cathedral ceiling with beams. A wall of windows allows light to fill the space. Sliding doors open on to sunny deck. There is a master bedroom and a full bath on the ground floor. Two more bedrooms and another full bath are located upstairs. The Saltbox features skylights, a bright interior, ceiling fans, a well stocked kitchen, internet, plenty of books, a grill off the deck, and a spacious outdoor shower. Everything you need to relax and unwind on your summer holiday on the Cape.
As the season changes to fall, the Saltbox is a quiet retreat to enjoy the natural beauty of Wellfleet without traffic on Route 6 and lines at PB's bakery. It is a wonderful time for long walks on empty beaches and quiet wooded trails while soaking in that special Wellfleet light. Watch the migrations of birds along the coast or visit the Audubon Sanctuary. Watch seals in the surf and if you're lucky you may even spot a whale as you walk along the shore. For chilly, fall nights the Saltbox has a wood burning stove in the living room giving you a cozy place to curl up with a good book.
